Benefits of Fitness in Sobriety

First, I want to say I am grateful for ALL OF YOU!  Thanks for reading and coming back.  I appreciate it and I am here to help you change your habits and change your life.

Now let’s get started!

Often times, fitness it associated with being in shape, losing weight, or gaining muscle.  The reality is fitness is SO MUCH MORE than that!!!  Fitness is therapy.  Fitness is mental health.  Fitness is healthy coping. Fitness to me, equaled sobriety as well!

There are many benefits to having a fitness routine in your journey to sobriety.  I could probably list 100 but narrowed it down, as always, to the most important. Let’s first discuss a few reasons why it is important to reap these benefits and having a fitness routine in your sobriety journey.  #FITNESSISLIFE

Structure & Habits

First, within the sober journey, structure is important.  Having a structured day, a routine or regimen can help you feel accomplished and on track.  Healthy habits, sober or not, are the key to finding and having consistent success!  The small things create the big things.  This. Is. A. FACT.  If you create great little habits and start including fitness within these habits, you will see a lift in your life.  It will help your mood, your productivity, your anxiety and all the things.  I promise.

With that said, you don’t have to go all in and crazy to reap these benefits.  Start small.  Start with fitness activities you enjoy just to get moving.  It doesn’t have to be a high intensity, 3-hour workout.  Think long-term and think sustainable.  That will yield the best results and go a long way.

Also, pay attention to how it makes you feel.  The better you feel, the more of a positive reinforcement your newfound fitness activity will have.   If it makes you feel good and you associate positive things with them, you will continue doing them.

Replacement

When you quit drinking or when you quit any nasty habit, people often replace those habits with something else.  I came to find out now that when I get home from work after a long stressful day, I pour myself a big glass of sparkling water LOL!  It’s the behavior I’ve created and replaced tasty sparkling water with lime rather than vodka on the rocks.  I didn’t even realize this until recent.

If you replaced a stressful day with fitness or even a self-care act (make sure to checkout my self care video!!!!

It could help you wind down, cope and destress.  It can really make a huge difference as you are learning healthier coping mechanisms.  I encourage you all to try this!  It has changed the end of my day and helped me overcome those hard, stressful days because sober or not, those will still happen!

Fitness + Sobriety = Get your life back!

Now let me list out the reasons why having a fitness routine is so crucial for sobriety success.  I actually made a video to watch that dives into each of these individually.  I would LOVE for you to check it out!  Linked below in below 🙂

Here are the reasons why Fitness is crucial during this journey:

1.     You FEEL GOOD

2.     Stress Reliever

3.     Surrounds yourself with the right people

4.     Positive Mindset

5.     Gives you a routine

6.     Healthy way to cope

Hope you found value in this and remember “Nothing changes if nothing changes.”

If you are not getting the results you want, try something different and find a way to stick to it!
