2021 Will Suck Too

Now that I have your attention, 2021 will SUCK if you do not take control over it.

Hey, Sam here!  I mean obviously, it’s my blog 😉  I am here to help save your 2021.  I know 2020 took a weird and unexpected turn.  Now under these circumstances, you could be 2 types of people:

1. Sit back and let things sucks.  And then wait for them to be over.  <<<HINT: if you think like this, they will never be over

2. Do something about it and take ownership of your life.

Which one were you?

Let me be real with you on this one – 2021 will be the EXACT same, pandemic or not, if you do not own your life.  LIKE OWN YOUR FREAKIN’ LIFE YA’LL!!! It’s such a powerful thing to do. Ownership, discipline and grit are the most important things when it comes to depicting one’s success.

The way to determine how you can smash all of those is figuring out your true purpose that lights your fire and then going ALL IN on this said purpose.  Dive into your soul.  Find out why you want that body or make that money or travel to that place.  No discovered purpose, harder to achieve greatness.  If you haven’t yet, check out my man Jay Shetty who has an amazing book on purpose.  Linked up for you below:

Let me give you an example.  For the longest time, I thought I wanted money.  Just lots of money.  Until I started to look at the reasons as to why I wanted money it all started to make sense.  I didn’t want a lot of money.  I wanted to eat really healthy, I wanted to vacation, I wanted freedom from debt, I wanted the ability to do anything I wanted.  AKA FREEDOM.

It was never about the money.  It was about not having any financial stress and being able to travel or do anything I pretty much wanted and to never be held back by the dollar.   Does that make sense?  Let’s dive more into ownership!

Ownership

This is something that is so important for success, I hope that I can get the words out accurately to help you all understand this concept.

Here is my direct way to approach it, if you own the aspects of your life you can control and realize that you have power over these choices, you will win more often than not.  This is where we need to ditch the excuses and realize that our life is a culmination of our choices and actions.  When I say this, I mean repeated actions.  The stuff you do day in and day out.  It catches up to you one way or another so it’s important to be consistent.

I would like to provide a few examples of ownership vs. not owning your ship.  <<< Get it!!?

Example 1.  I have fitness goals I want to accomplish.  It’s a snow day and I get to work from home and the weather is bad.  A lack of ownership is easy, you simply skip your workout and don’t eat on plan today.  Ownership is you get up and structure an at home workout before work.  You drink lots of water and eat on plan just as you should.  The difference here is you didn’t let something out of your control derail your goals.  Not even for 1 day.  This is the difference in the 1% of people!

Example 2.  A friend offers you a drink at a NYE party and you’ve been sober for a while.  Your friend knows this but says “Hey, you’ve done so well!  Let’s celebrate with just 1 drink.”  Ownership is saying no and pulling that friend aside and telling them you can’t do this type of stuff anymore.  It’s a slippery slope and when you take that one drink it could lead to a total downfall.

Then to take this further, I would evaluate if that friend should be in your life anymore.  Real friends will support and understand your situation and goals.  Period.  Be selective.

2021 Vision

Here is my proposal.  If you are reading this blog, you’re intrigued.  Write down 2-3 things you want to accomplish this year.  Now, think about what you wrote down and make them good.  Think about why you want them (see example above at beginning of the post).  All you have to do it build healthy habits that line up with these goals.

Now building new habits is a challenge with how we are wired but make them easy, make them simple.  Don’t try and do 20 things at once. That is not sustainable, and then it will be harder to find success.

After you write down these goals, let’s do a little exercise.  Go lay down on your couch or a comfy chair and visualize what it would feel like to have accomplished these goals.  When you do this you ask yourself these questions:

1.     How is my life different now?

2.     How does having X make me feel?

3.     What can I do now that I have achieved X that I couldn’t do before?

Once you go into the space of having achieved these goals, they become more powerful and instilled in you.  It’s a great feeling!  You can even take it a step further and make a vision board.

Now, let’s go out there and dominate what we want!  You have the power to create your own life.  You have control.  Step 1 is believing you are capable of it!
